NEWS RELEASE: FREE ONLINE SEARCH AND RESCUE TRAINING

Back by popular demand, we’re excited to announce another free online search and rescue (SAR) training session! This course, based on our Fundamentals of Search and Rescue (FSAR) syllabus, covers a wide range of critical topics designed to enhance global SAR capabilities.
Course Topics Include:
- IAMSAR Manuals and ICAO Annex XII
- The SAR System
- Cospas-Sarsat Satellite Detections
- Stages of a SAR Incident
- Demo of IMSAR RCC SAR Mission Management System
- Global Maritime Distress Safety System (GMDSS)
The training will be conducted in English by our knowledgeable aeronautical and maritime SAR Mission Coordinators.
Who Can Attend?
Participation is limited to one representative per SAR-related organization free of charge. However, organizations that wish to send additional participants can request spots for a nominal fee of $200 USD per additional participant.
All fees collected will be donated to the Not-For-Profit SAR organization, IASARC, to support the advancement of the SAR profession.
When is the Training Taking Place?
To accommodate participants from various time zones worldwide, we are offering two separate sessions:
- Session A (Europe, Middle East, Asia, Pacific Region):
Wednesday, 24 September 2025
0800-1500 UTC - Session B (Americas, Caribbean, Atlantic):
Thursday, 25 September 2025
1300-2000 UTC
How to Register
Registration is by email only. To register, please send an email with your organization’s signature block to:

Include the following details:
- Name of the person attending
- Name of your organization
- Location of your organization
- Email address of the attendee
- Which session (A or B) you’d like to attend
Registration closes on Friday, 19 September 2025. Seats are limited, so register early to secure your spot!
Training Delivery
This free SAR course will be conducted online via Teams. Participants will receive an email invite 3 days before the course start date.

Will there be certification?
No, this course is for informational purposes only.
Do participants need to stay all day?
No, participants can join or leave throughout the day. A one-hour lunch break will be scheduled midway.
What is IMSAR RCC SAR Mission Management System?
It’s an innovative tool for effectively managing SAR incidents. A brief demo of the software will be provided during the course. For more details, check out the IMSAR demo here.
