IAMSAR Solutions recently delivered another excellent course to the personnel of CAAT. Mr. Daniel Chicoyne shared all his SAR knowledge in Bangkok via the SAR Mission Coordinator course. This course is designed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of aeronautical and/or maritime search and rescue (SAR) activities as part of the SAR Mission Coordinator (SMC) responsibilities under a Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC), an Aeronautical Rescue Coordination Centre (ARCC) or a Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) It primarily focuses on all SAR activities from the initial onset of an incident until the conclusion of a mission. There is extensive academic instruction which includes practical hands-on exercises plus a full three days of active simulations which are specifically created for the local environment and local resources. It is tailor-made based on the organization’s area of responsibility, typical incidents encountered and students’ level of knowledge. This course is an absolute necessity for any personnel engaged in RCC operations. The CAAT personnel thoroughly enjoyed this highly interactive session.
